My key responsibilities in this role included:
Researched timely breaking news stories, focusing on politics, social causes, music, weather, and sport.
Made independent editorial decisions determining the newsworthiness and relevance of news content to RTRFM listeners.
Produced multiple radio-style news stories under strict time limits to fit into a scripted news bulletin ready for air on the hour.
Presented news bulletins confidently on air in an appropriate radio tone to thousands of listeners every Wednesday between 9 am and 12 pm.
Adjusted bulletins to deliver news content catered to specific target audiences, such as delivering an LGBTQI+ focused news bulletin for the "All Things Queer" program.
Organised stories and information using Google Docs and Google Sheets.
While studying a Bachelor of Arts in Journalism at Curtin University, I took on a role as a news-writer and live on-air newsreader at RTRFM 92.1.
